Reading Wales 2023

1st to 31st March

Welcome to the fifth Reading Wales celebration (aka Dewithon 23), a month-long event beginning on Saint David’s Day, during which book lovers from all parts of the world are encouraged to read, discuss and review literature by and about writers from Wales.

For more in-depth information on this reading jolly, head over to DHQ (Dewithon Headquarters), and to see what’s happening this year, please follow this link. You can also share your thoughts and posts on social media by using the hashtags #dewithon23 and/or #readingwales23.

Here we display your Dewithon-related posts. Please leave your links in the comments section below or drop me a line with the URL.

For the curious, the above image shows Point of Ayr Lighthouse on Talacre Beach (Flintshire). Built in 1776, it has featured in a Dulux paint TV advert (along with the company’s Old English Sheepdog mascot) and is said to be haunted.

Mwynhewch ddarllen! (Enjoy reading!)

  1. Happy Saint David’s Day to you and yours! 😁🤗

  2. Will do my very best to join in! Happy St. David’s Day! 😀

  3. That poor lighthouse sure looks like it could do with a coat of Dulux now. Not hard to believe in ghosts there. Thank you again Paula for hosting another Dewithon.

    • It looks rather shabby but it takes quite a battering at times, so it’s obviously sturdy. I think it did recieve a lick of paint when they were filming.

Thank you, Frances. I hope you enjoy the event. 😊

  4. Happy St David’S Day and may your celebrations be joyful.
I am very fond of Light houses so thanks
for showing this from Point of Ayr.

  5. Hooray! I’m just writing up my State of the TBR post and including links to Dewithon there: I’m doing Richard Llewellyn’s “How Green was my Valley” and Charlotte Williams’ “Sugar and Slate” this year.

  6. Can’t seem to find many books by Welsh authors at my local library, but will do my best to participate at least with one.

  7. I have The Mabinogion on the go (one story down!) although what I can possibly have to say about this Welsh classic that hasn’t already been said?!

Love the lighthouse, though it looks rather in need of another coat of Dulux 😀

  8. Just finishing the book club choice and then I can get down to reading some Welsh authors.

  9. Here is The Last Party by Clare Mackintosh which I enjoyed: http://perfectretort.blogspot.com/2023/03/the-last-party-by-clare-mackintosh.html

Mackintosh is not Welsh but living there now and this book is set on the Border
