Celebrate Wales Week
The largest annual events programme celebrating and promoting Wales around the world is currently taking place. Wales Week, which runs for the fortnight around Saint David’s Day, from 20th February to about 7th March 2022, not only has fresh sponsors and partners on board this year but has gained several new event hosts too.
Working with international diaspora organisations, the Wales Week Worldwide movement has a comprehensive hybrid programme of both face-to-face and digital activities and events. The 2022 programme includes happenings focusing on business, social enterprise, life sciences and tech, architecture, art, music, film, government and international relations, sport, food and drink, celebrity interviews, entertainment and plenty more besides.
Co-founder and Chair of the Wales Week initiative, Dan Langford, told journalists, “Wales Week is very much about partnerships; we attract and coalesce the goodwill, imagination and energy of so many wonderful people and organisations under one Wales Week banner, through which we promote them, their brands, their activities, and together generate a huge amount of Welsh noise.” He also commented that following a wholly on-line programme of events in 2021 due to covid, he was immensely relieved to see the full programme “back out” again.
Locations taking part include London, Bangkok, British Columbia, Dublin, Hungary, Iran, Melbourne, New York, Paris, Tokyo and numerous others. It is hoped Geneva, South Africa and Birmingham will join in the fun next year.

Good to see Wales taking to the international stage.As I travelled to various countries in my job I so often came across people who didn’t know anything about Wales and certainly didn’t know that it was not the same as England…
LOL! If I had a penny for every time I’ve been described as English or coming from England, I would be an exceedingly wealthy Welsh woman! 🤣
